Becky Robinson

Becky Robinson started her dance training at the age of four in Albany, Georgia, at the Murphy Dance Studio with Maude Evelyn Murphy.  She continued her training throughout the years at various studios including the Atlanta School of Ballet, City Centre Dance Theatre in Atlanta, the FSU Department of Dance, and at various national touring dance conventions.  She has completed and passed all the exams for the Dance Masters of America’s Teacher’s Training School and is a certified dance teacher and 40 year member of DMA.   As an instructor, she has taught ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, lyrical and aerobics to students of all ages.  She is also a graduate of North Florida Community College and Florida State University where she earned a degree in Early Childhood Education.

Ms. Robinson is a former member of the Tallahassee Dance Arts Guild and the Valdosta Dance Theatre directed by Linda C. Chase.  She danced in their productions of “The Nutcracker” and “Spring Gala” for several years and also served on the Board of Directors for the Valdosta Dance Theatre.

As a choreographer, Ms. Robinson was a part of numerous musical theatre productions at NFCC as well as the dance instructor for the Summer Arts Institute there.   She has also directed the award winning dance team from her studio for 28 years.  Organizing the studio’s annual recitals and public appearances continues to provide opportunities for her students to experience the joy of performing.

Founding her studio in 1976, “Miss Becky”, as she is known to her students, proudly celebrates her 47th year of dance instruction this season.  She now teaches the children of many of her former students and enjoys watching the generations of dancers that come through her studio grow, achieve their greatest potential and learn to love dance.
