BDSS Company Dancers

The BDSS Co. Dancers is an award winning dance team that offers young dancers the opportunity to develop positive self esteem, confidence, accountability, and leadership through dance. Here at BDSS we strive to further our dancers potential, while maintaining age appropriate routines and costumes. We encourage our dancers to do their best and make improvements throughout the competition season, but most of all to have fun and grow through fellowship. The competition team is instructed by Becky Robinson and Danielle Leslein.

2020-2021 BDSS Company Dancers team consist of 11 dancers ranging from junior level to senior level.

Elite Dance Cup National Dance Competition - Valdosta

BDSS CO. Dancers attended Elite Dance Cup Competition regionals at the intermediate encore level March 13, 2021 in Valdosta, Ga. where the were awarded the coveted and much saught after “Studio of Excellence Award.” This award is given to the studio with the highest overall scoring total of the competition.

The company snagged several judges choice awards given directly by the Elite judging staff in recognition of outstanding dance. Senior BDSS encore tap routine Whiskey in the Well received a judges choice award called the “Tap-errific Award”, which was given to them based on their synchronicity of tapping on stage. Whiskey in the Well went on to earn a gold elite score and placed 1nd place overall in small group encore senior division. Whiskey in the Well also received the coveted “Elite Choreography Award”. This award is only awarded to one number from the entire regional. Whiskey in the Well was choreographed by the owner/teacher/dancer Becky Robinson of Becky’s Dance Steps Studio.

Teen jazz duo/trio Cover Girl, choreographed by Danielle Leslein and featuring dancers Melana Webb and Allie Wilkerson, received a judges choice award for the “Show Must Go On,” after they finished their duo on stage without music after several power surges caused their music to cut in and out multiple times. They re-performed their number minutes later snagging a 3rd place overall in duo/trio encore division.

Teen musical theatre solo Ring Them Bells choreographed by Becky Robinson featuring dancer Allie Wilkerson, received a judges choice award for “Broadway Bound.” Bells scored a gold elite, 1st place overall, and the “Highest Scoring Solo 12 and Over Award” in her division Allie Wilkerson was also awarded the “Elite High School Dance Intensive Scholarship” to attend the 2021-2022 Oklahoma City University, Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Arts Management High School Dance Intensive Program.

BDSS teen musical theatre dancer Lauri Thigpen placed 3rd place overall for her performance in 100 Easy Ways choreographed by Caibre Johnson. Our Seniors showed up and showed out snagging three top places in overall senior encore solos. BDSS Co. dancer Karissa Kervin placed 1st place overall in her age division for her pointe solo Dance Classique choreographed by Becky Robinson. Caibre Johnson was tapping right behind her scoring 2nd place overall for her tap solo Mr. Pinstripe Suit choreographed by Becky Robinson. Rounding out senior encore solos was 3rd place overall senior encore lyrical dancer MaryKate Brooks dancing her solo Head Above Water choreographed by Danielle Leslein.

Inspire National Dance Competition Valdosta:

BDSS CO. Dancers attended Inspire National Dance Competition regionals Feb. 19, 2021 in Valdosta, Ga. Musical Theatre soloist Lauri Thigpen performed 1000 Easy Ways and received platinum scoring and the coveted “Entertainment Award.” Lauri also placed in the top 10 of among all teen recreational soloists.

BDSS Routines senior competition level small group Whiskey in the Well received the sought after “Showmanship Award.” Senior dancers Karissa Kervin and Allie Wilkerson were both named to the “Inspire 2021 All-Stars Team.” All-Star dancers perform in the opening number for Inspire Nationals held over a week this summer.
