Becky Robinson started her dance training at the age of four in Albany, Georgia, at the Murphy Dance Studio with Maude Evelyn Murphy. She continued her training throughout the years at various studios including the Atlanta School of Ballet, City Centre Dance Theatre in Atlanta, the FSU Department of Dance, and at various national touring dance conventions. She has completed and passed all the exams for the Dance Masters of America’s Teacher’s Training School and is a certified dance teacher and 38 year member of DMA. As an instructor, she has taught ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, lyrical and aerobics to students of all ages. She is also a graduate of North Florida Community College and Florida State University where she earned a degree in Early Childhood Education.
Ms. Robinson is a former member of the Tallahassee Dance Arts Guild and the Valdosta Dance Theatre directed by Linda C. Chase. She danced in their productions of “The Nutcracker” and “Spring Gala” for several years and also served on the Board of Directors for the Valdosta Dance Theatre.
As a choreographer, Ms. Robinson was a part of numerous musical theatre productions at NFCC as well as the dance instructor for the Summer Arts Institute there. She has also directed the award winning dance team from her studio for 27 years. Organizing the studio’s annual recitals and public appearances continues to provide opportunities for her students to experience the joy of performing.
Founding her studio in 1976, “Miss Becky”, as she is known to her students, proudly celebrates her 43rd year of dance instruction this season. She now teaches the children of many of her former students and enjoys watching the generations of dancers that come through her studio grow, achieve their greatest potential and learn to love dance.
Scott Benson’s dance career has withstood the test of time for over 30 years. Scott is more in demand now than ever. His career has taken him all over the world from Europe , Asia, and South America to choreograph and perform with such artists as Michael Jackson, Pink, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Madonna, Sting, John Travolta, Bruce Willis, Tom Selleck, Paula Abdul, Reba McEntire, and Tom Hanks to name just a few. He has been both in front of and behind the camera in countless television shows and commercials, including Scrubs, Jay Leno, The Academy Awards, The Super Bowl, Sea Doo/Ski Doo, Ebay, Hurley, and Visa.
Some of his film credits include Pirates of the Caribbean, Forrest Gump, Perfect, and The Mask. His career has not slowed down a bit – Recently Scott worked on Rock of Ages with Tom Cruise and Julianne Hough, Nissan End of the Year Sale commercial and a Movie from Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitts production company. Danielle Leslein began her dance career at Becky’s Dance Steps Studio, and has been dancing her heart out for a total of 18 years. She works as a jazz instructor, and is the Director for the BDSS Company Dancers. Not only has she choreographed for BDSS, but she has done several productions for the NFCC Sentinel Upstage Players. When she is not at the studio she is an Elementary Education teacher in Madison County.
